Art Deco Cameras
Welcome to my Art Deco Cameras website
The aim of this website is to provide information about cameras in my collection that exhibit features that relate to the Art Deco period. They will all show some form of Art Deco styling.
The Art Deco period covered the years between the two world wars. It began at the start of the 1920s and lasted until the end of the 1930s. However, all Art Deco designers didn't just disappear in 1940, as if struck down by some plague. Many cameras in the post Art Deco period of the 40s and 50s show aspects that were derived from the Art Deco style.
I also propose to give concise but sufficient information to allow these cameras to be enjoyed and to produce quality photographs. This includes camera features as well as obtaining the appropiate film for their use. Where film for the camera is not available, I will endeavor to suggest a substitute or how the camera can be modified for available film. I do not intend this site to be a museum for the listing of old cameras but a site that will enable you to bring these cameras back to life.
I use a star system to rate cameras against their Art Deco credentials.
Iconic: Famous, well-known and celebrated
Significant: Pronounced and self evident
Noteworthy: Worth giving special attention
Acceptable: Modest and restricted
Limited: Minor and insubstantial
Please have a look at the cameras in my collection. You may want to check back later because I am adding to my collection regularly. My Collection
